Family Renewal Shelter - About FRS

Jessica's Story:

I wanted to tell a little bit about what Family Renewal Shelter has done for my family. To grasp just what this shelter has done for our lives would be impossible without understanding what F.R.S. and their wonderful staff helped us out of at our most desperate hour. My children and I have had to stay on the move for four years to stay safe and, at times, even survive. My abuser had taken away my family's right to own a car without fear of brake lines being cut and tires being slashed. He had taken away our right to ask the courts to help us stay safe. He had taken away the right of my children to go to the same school year after year with the same friends and their right to develop normal peer relationships. He had taken away their right to lay down at night with peace, knowing their mother would still be alive in the morning to look after them. He took away their right to dream about becoming astronauts and put squalor in its place. He took away their right to live in love instead of fear.

Family Renewal Shelter entered our lives at a desperate hour. We had been tracked across the country by my abuser's PI and we had no where left to go. My abuser did not want his kids or money or even to have me back.
